Twilight Fm were first heard in 1993 on 105.4 FM. In the early days they played mostly pop music, but as time went on, they played more dance music.
Arguments over music policy did cause a split at one point, with some DJs leaving to start Buzz FM on 106.6, and Sweet FM. After a number of raids, the DJs re-grouped and Twilight FM carried on. Other spin-offs from Twilight include Radical 999, Rhythm FM and Heaven 107.
The station used many studio sites during its time on air, such as friends spare rooms, DJ Sumo’s conservatory and Bransholme flats!
Like most dance pirates, the station was involved in the local club scene with club nights at places like The Tower Nightclub, Club Oasis and Circus Circus.
DJs on Twilight included Chris H, Sumo, DJ Funky Zone, Paul Winn, Mikey Bee, Lady J, Poison, Nealy B, Metal Mickey, DJ Reverb, DJ Winney, Shades of Rhythm, DJ Seek, DJ Tiny, 3-Style, Nervous Neville, DJ Sly, Wavey Davey, DJ Crazyman, MC NRG, Bod, Mr Ben, DJ Dizaster, Tosh, Scoundrel (aka Gazza), DJ Fyzal, Frenchie, DJ Vortex, DJ Star and Alan B.
As the 1990s progressed, the station had started to wind down, but did later return on a new frequency of 107.7 in 2006.
The station eventually stopped pirate broadcasting and became an internet station.
