Sherwood Forest Radio were one of the East Midlands early pirate stations, playing mainstream pop to Nottingham in the mid 1980s.

They were first heard in Late February 1985 on 103 FM with the transmitter set up on top of The Victoria Centre. A great transmitter site….apart from the lifts causing a bit of interference! This wasn’t a problem for long, as after only four weekends on air they were raided. They were next on at Christmas 1985 on a new frequency of 103.5.

Some of the people involved in this station, such as Steve Taylor (Gadget), became major players in the pirate scene in the following decade.
