Frequency FM were first heard in May 2006 They broadcast from Leeds on 88.1 FM, with a format of Drum & Bass, often with an MC rapping over the music.
From the start they were a professional outfit with a very powerful signal, much stronger than any previous pirates from Leeds. They had very high quality stereo audio too, complete with RDS reading RF88-1FM.
They suffered a studio raid on 24th July 2007 but were back on air the same evening albeit with pre recorded material. A second studio raid happened on 15th November 2007 which kept them off air until 18th January 2008. They then returned with a more varied schedule and managed to broadcast 7 days a week from 5pm. During this time, they became so big, they were deemed worthy of a half hour late night TV show on ITV Yorkshire!
The station eventually stopped pirate broadcasting and became an internet station.
