87.7

Post by Mike »

Blank carrier at the moment with RDS - HOPE FM

I heard this earlier in the week playing christian music. It isn't on the list of RSLs on the ofcom site, so is it pirate?

http://www.hopefm.org.uk

Can't find any mention under RSL or under Community stations on ofcom site, however they said there were no available frequencies on FM in Brum at the last round of applications....

It was on 87.7 in Manchester in 2004.

The website registration has address details withheld, no address anywhere on site either...

Appears to be something to do with Adventist church as website registered by Michael Simpson and the church has a Pastor Michael Simpson who also does Breakfast...

From adventist.org.uk
HOPE FM 87.7 Birmingham
A 24-hour radio station featuring a wide range of high interest programmes will be launched on Sunday 16April and promises to be an effective method of connecting with the local community. The radio can be accessed online at http://www.hopefm.org.uk so members throughout the UK can tune in at any time. The people of Birmingham solicit your prayers as they move forward in faith in the hope that the seeds planted will develop into a harvest of crops as we continue the initiative over the next two years and beyond. We intend to provide updates on a regular basis.

Site is designed, hosted and streamed by http://www.adventfm.org which says it is "non- profit ministry run by a team from different parts of the UK with a passion for doing God’s work. ABN has been sustained by the financial commitment of its members, and donations from listeners, and viewers."

One of the drive time presenters used to be on Unity 92.8

Very strange that if legal there is no press coverage coming up in a Google search and only Hope Fm on Ofcom site is Bournemouth. Cant even find any coverage of when they were on In Manchester other than their Twitter etc

Just "launched". Announced "live to Birmingham, Sandwell, West Bromwich, Walsall, Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth". Big TSA if RSL or community

28 day RSL. Strange they did "2 weeks test transmissions" though.... Doesn't that normally come out of the 28 days?

Thanks for the info. When I was involved with an RSL there wasn't any additional time allowed for testing. That was a long time ago, though, pre-ofcom, so perhaps things have changed.
