Pre Budget rip off .....

Post by Steve Marshall » Mon Nov 24, 2008 6:02 pm

Well here we are, time to tax the motorist again ..... :mad

As you might here them going on about cutting VAT, this is only a temporary measure for 13 months then it will be going back up to 17.5% again. Now being as they are cutting VAT to 15% for a bit they have hit the drivers again. This is what they say.

To offset the effects of the temporary reduction in VAT, increasing alcohol and
tobacco duties, maintaining these increases after December 2009
to support fiscal
consolidation; and following a fall in pump prices of over 20 pence per litre from
their summer peaks, a two pence per litre increase in fuel duty from 1 December
2008

You can bet that fuel duty increase won't come off when VAT goes back up again in 13 months can't you. Oh don't forget your car tax going up £5 also ....

Time to get your tank filled up before 1st Dec then .....

Anyone remember Radio Northsea International's on air support fir the Tories during the 1970 election campaign as it was of course Wilson's Labour administration that illegally jammed them. (incidentally, did Heath or Chataway turn off the jammer?)

Of course it doesn't affect us non car owners!

:pirate Interesting one,it could be the reason why the tories did not turn off the million watt jamming tx from rochester after the 70 election (until they sailed to Holland )was because RNI during some of its time at sea in the early days did participate in spying for east germany.

Until Keith mention of this above I was not aware of the alleged East German spying activity carried out on the Mebo 2 (RNI's boat), so I did a bit of digging around tinternet. This link is interesting:
