Pop on 90.0

Post by bristolpirates » Sun Sep 25, 2016 2:00 pm

I've been in Birmingham / Wolverhampton over the weekend and found a weak signal on 90.0 whilst I was traveling which I couldn't identify. It was just a continuous automated stream of recent pop music, so about as boring as radio can get. Stereo, but I don't think there was any RDS except there might've been a tone on 57k which is a tell-tale sign of a Chinese rig.

Anybody else heard this?

Only thing I know of near there is BCMR on 89.7 (assuming they are still on air - i havent checked/listened to FM in over a year). That is automated music in stereo...

BCMR was also on air on 89.7 with stereo and RDS.

This thing on 90 didn't seem to cover a particularly large area, but I could've been on the very edge of the signal as it wasn't strong in any place I could hear it.

Got back to the midlands from work last night and had a quick tune around in the car on the roof level of Wolverhampton Station car park.

90.0 was on playing pop, no signal at ground level. BCMR was a reasonable signal, nice audio... Got some new imaging by the sounds of it, but it's the first time Ive heard it this year so might be wrong.
