Re: The cost of fuel

Gary I have to confess we don't have an AM receiver in the house, our radios are FM/DAB, and as DAB here is very burbly, my radio listening is done through the Sky box anyway. You can get Sunshine 855 and 954 here, but you can't get Maldwyn very good here like you can around the Ludlow area. Should ...

Re: The cost of fuel

We are all electric here, no mains or bottle gas. Absolutely disgusted by the last B****** G** price rise, we switched to EON, where they did a price freeze until Oct 2009. Also if tou have a Tesco clubcard, you can earn points on your energy expenditure with all EON services. If you want to take ad...

Re: The cost of fuel

Coming back to the thread of this discussion, what about the cost of gas/electricity then? I found an energy supplier website today, www.ebico.co.uk. They say they are a not for profit energy supplier, and they cover the whole UK. And their p.p.u is about 6p less than what I'm paying now for my leck...

Re: The cost of fuel

I forgot to mention the nearest cinema (movie theatre) being over thirty miles away, an almost non-existent live music scene (unless you like folk or country and western) and, probably more relevant to the nature of this website, BBC radio 1-4, Radio Wales, and that's that. Wyvern on 97.6 if you're ...

Re: The cost of fuel

You'll soon wish you were back in Brum. I do. Everybody seems to be inter-related here, and everybody knows everybody elses business. You only have to open your front door and everybody starts to stare. Not at all healthy, and not at all normal imho. Also I can name at least two shops around here wh...

Re: KRISS FM 95.3

Just to say that further to my comment about picking up Kriss on my mobile phone radio in Bewdley, this afternoon in exactly the same place in Bewdley there was no sign of them on 95.3 (didn't stop long enough to do a bandscan as I had to get back to Worcester to call in the music shop before headin...

Re: First FM Pirates

Indeed Steve. The Signal signal practicallt spanned the entire distance between Brum and Manchester, indeed I remember going into one of those Tandys type technology shops that was near Masshouse Circus in town and tuning their massive Russian radio into Signal on 104.3 as I was so chuffed at the th...

Re: The cost of fuel

Honestly! You folks living in the West Midlands don't know how lucky you are. Buses, trains, trams, virtually on tap - you don't need your expensive to run fuel guzzlers there! (or indeed any major conurbation or reasonably sized major centre in the UK) Try venturing westwards from Worcester into Wa...

Re: First FM Pirates

There was a massive push by the radio industry in 1983 to get out as many FM receivers as possible that tuned all the way to 108 MHz, as that year GB Radio in South Wales launched, which was the first ILR station to utilise the brand new 102-104.5 sub band, followed by Southern Sound (103.4) and Sig...

Re: First FM Pirates

I remember RFB's tests on 97.5, but I'm sure they were on in 1979 as that year we had boutht a brand new GEC musiccentre and after reading something about them in the Sandwell Mail, I thought I'd try and find them on the brand new toy we had in our lounge. The reception however was poor, sometimes b...
