Re: First Radio Memory
My first radio memory was more of a radiogram memory - our old SOBELL two waveband valve model with the four speed record deck - and the wonky pair of legs. But the fact that the dial used to light up used to fascinate me. My Roberts DAB radio lights up but somehow it's not the same.... The routine ...

Make sure you all vote conservative at the next general election! :grin1 Anyone remember Radio Northsea International's on air support fir the Tories during the 1970 election campaign as it was of course Wilson's Labour administration that illegally jammed them. (incidentally, did Heath or Chataway...

Re: New evening lineup for BBC Radio 1
I now hear that Lauren Laverne is joining 6 Music. Another controversy merchant who's in love with the sound of her own voice. Whatever next? Replacing Lamacq with BNP-loving James Whale just to get people listening for the wrong reason? I quite like Dangerous Dave Pearce tho and I'll miss him BBC 6...

Re: New evening lineup for BBC Radio 1
Bloody personality radio Andy, that's what it is. Same reason why Terry Wogan 'came out' of retirement, or the dodgy dealings in the 1990s to bring a certain ginger idiot to Radio 1 Breakfasts. But the worst infiltration by personality radio is on 6 Music, a station where people who really know and ...

I thought Muff Murfin had sold his radio interests, ie Sunshine, to Laser anyway.

Re: Global must sell stations in midlands, but not London
Smithy Rock should have been on the air this autumn, but the DAB multiplex operator MuxCo that won the franchises for both the Worcs and Glos multiplexes (and other new plexes where Laser had interests) have ran into some delays. Now they're expecting to launch in 'early 2009' but as yet they can no...

Re: Global must sell stations in midlands, but not London
If they did, they could put their new Smithy Rock brand onto 954 and 1530, while the three Wyvern fm channels become Sunshine. Or the other way around...
