Ray Magnum had been helping out a friend with disco’s, who was also running a lo-tech AM pirate from his house in Lower Rainham. The station was called Radio Atlantis and they could be heard on 235m medium wave. Following a raid, Ray got hold of an FM transmitter and Radio Atlantis then became a regular weekend station for North Kent & South Essex.

Early broadcasts were on 96.3, before moving to 92.5 and featured DJs such as Steve Davis, John Rogers as well as Ray. Some North London pirate DJs also popped up such as Graham Archer and Chris England.

By 1986 the station was on 103.7 with more presenters such as Dave Johnson, John England, Graham England, Chris Miles, Steve Jones, Jerry Davis, Ray Richards and Dean Rogers.

They switched to Wednesday nights on 105.3 in 1988.

Many of the Atlantis DJs were heard on RSL stations across Kent in the 1990s, and Jerry Davis (Jerry Wright) was later on Radio Jackie and Radio Caroline, with Ray Magnum (Ray Copeland) also on Caroline.
